We're so excited to celebrate with you at Castelvecchio! To help you plan your journey, here's some information on how to reach the venue:

By Car  (Recommended):

 

The easiest way to reach Castelvecchio is by car. The drive from Trieste takes approximately 40 minutes, and free parking is available at the venue.

• Carpooling: We're coordinating carpools to make travel easier. Carpools will be organized based on seat availability. If you're interested in sharing a ride, please let us know in your RSVP. Similarly, if you're renting a car and are willing to offer lifts to other guests, please indicate that as well. We'll connect those who need rides with those who can offer them.

By Train  (Not Recommended for Reaching the Venue Directly!):

While Trieste is well-connected to other cities by train, we don't recommend using the train to reach Castelvecchio directly. The closest station is Sagrado, which is a 30-minute walk from the venue. Although we can try to arrange a ride from the station, the train schedule presents some challenges:

• Outbound: A regional train departs Trieste Centrale at 1:32 PM and arrives in Sagrado at 2:12 PM.

• Return: The last train back to Trieste on the 27th of July is at 10:29 PM, meaning you'd miss a significant portion of the celebrations (see our schedule section). The first train on the 28th of July is at 6:49 AM, while the party will conclude around 2:00 AM.

Note that while trains aren't ideal for getting to Castelvecchio, they are a convenient way to travel to Trieste itself.

 

 

Travelling from Abroad

​

If you're travelling from abroad, the easiest way to reach Trieste is by flying to one of the nearby airports:

• Trieste Airport (TRS): This is the closest airport and is directly connected to Trieste city centre by express train. It's also only a 15-minute car ride from Castelvecchio. For those travelling from London, Trieste Airport offers direct flights with Ryanair, making it a particularly convenient option. We can likely help arrange rides to/from this airport as well.

• Other Airports: Trieste is also relatively close to Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE) (1 hour 30 minutes by car), Treviso Airport (TSF) (1 hour 40 minutes by car), and Ljubljana Airport (LJU) (1 hour 15 minutes by car). Getting from Other Airports to Trieste:

  • Car Rental: You can rent a car at any of these airports.

  • GoOpti: Consider GoOpti for shared airport transfers at reasonable prices.

  • Public Transport: You can also use public transport to reach Trieste from these airports, which usually involves a bus to the nearest train station. Note that direct train connections between Trieste and Ljubljana are limited.
